"Eines Tages hielt ich bei der Arbeit inne und versuchte, mir ganz frei Gedanken darüber zu machen, was ich - aber auch andere - eigentlich machten. An diesem Tag begann ich, mich von einigem Ballast zu befreien, der alle seriösen Überlegungen zur Architektur befallen hatte und an ihnen klebte wie Napfschnecken oder Krustentiere. Dieses klare Resultat schien mir attraktiv, und ich dachte, man könnte es auch Architektur nennen, oder vielleicht architektur. Ich genoss dieses klein geschriebene "a", das genügte, um eine Lösung für jenes Problem zu finden, das die Architektur schon immer lösen musste: die Welt zu organisieren, in der wir unser Leben leben."
